About us
Raine & Bea was set up in 2013 by Salford born Jenna Barnes.
The name Raine & Bea derives from her daughters names Lili Raine & Nancy Bea, not wanting to leave her son out Jenna named her debut collection back in 2013 Master George… this came from her son’s medicine bottle.
The Brand
Jenna came up with the idea of setting up Raine & Bea after working backstage for Celine Dion and as a costume maker on the musical Cabaret! Wanting to create a brand that didn’t follow trends and to stand out within the lingerie industry; Jenna noticed a gap in the market for lingerie that has theatrical flair for everyday wear at its heart. In addition to this she wanted to keep the time honoured techniques which can be found in each collection combined with Raine & Bea’s signature twist and accessible price points.

Jenna's Journey
Following in my mother’s footsteps on the sewing machine I left school at 15 and went straight into a machining job sewing karate suits, this led me onto my next job of making trampolines and dolls prams. I had always been a creative teen so once I’d tried a job with hands on experience my dreams to attend college went out the door.
I was a sample machinist in Manchester working in the design room age 19 sewing women’s wear. It was whilst working here that I gained the most of my experience. One of my first jobs was creating a green satin pair of hot pants for designer Maria Grachvogel. The hot pants I sewed were later worn by Victoria Beckham at the MG fashion show in 2000; the image of Beckham wearing those hot pants is now one of the most iconic photos of her.

2012 I was asked to create a corset for the musical Cabaret! For their promotional campaign, I created a corset within a couple of hours and sent it off, it cost me under £50 to make and post out. On the back of making the corset I was commissioned to create 25 garments including a corset for Will Young whom was playing Emcee and costumes for Louise Redknapp who played Sally Bowles. I worked on this show 2012-2020. A few years later I was asked to create for Fleur East which led to many designs for her stage wear, a gown for presenting an award at the 2016 Brit Awards and her evening outfit at her wedding which was voted in the Top Ten celebrity wedding outfits in 2019. I also designed a lingerie set for Sharon Sexton who played and still plays the role of Sloane in the musical Bat Out Of Hell.

Raine & Bea was born producing one off designs at high price points and soon enough my designs were being worn by celebrities and requested by top fashion stylists.
Shortly after lockdown in 2021, after having my 4th baby in 2020, an opportunity arose for a costume maker at Pinewood Studio’s creating ‘Super Suits’ for the main character’s of The Marvels. What an experience that was! Although I only played a small part (as a maker, not actor) I spent 11 weeks learning new skills working alongside extremely talented individuals from around the world.
With the popularity of Raine & Bea I’d noticed that the price point was too high for the majority of my audience. This inspired me to set up a new diffused line with affordable price points.
Keep creative!
